RIVERSIDE, CA (07/08/22) – A virtual social learning platform empowering older adults and a nationally touring tribute show have teamed up to support Twyla Teitzel in fulfilling her life-long dream to be a backup dancer for the Rolling Stones.
The critically-acclaimed Beatles vs. Stones – A Musical Showdown production will be returning its highly-anticipated Summer Tour 2022 to the Fox Performing Arts Center on Saturday July 30. Twyla will perform on stage as a backup dancer during one song.
Twyla will be practicing her moves to perform during the Stones’ 80s hit “Miss You”. She is one of a number of global ambassadors with GetSetUp that exemplify what it means to age well. With 4.6 million members in 160 countries, GetSetUp supports older adults in achieving their goals and inspiring others to do the same.
“We work to empower our learners to explore and do amazing things,” said Lawrence Kosick, President and Co-Founder of GetSetUp. “We are excited to help Twyla fulfill one of her bucket-list dreams. We love seeing our learners taking action to be healthy and follow their dreams while debunking ageism myths. We know she will be an inspiration to our community.”
Why does Twyla want to be a backup dancer for the Rolling Stones?
“Part of it is probably a little bit rebellious,” said Twyla, who lives in Gold River, California.“My mom wouldn’t let me buy Rolling Stones albums when I was a child because she said the Stones used their money to buy drugs. So, I bought albums from the Beatles, Beach Boys, Supremes and Monkees instead.”
For the past decade with more than 1500 performances across the country and abroad, this unforgettable production has been delighting audiences with their talent, warmth, humor and passion for the music of The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. A critic for the Los Angeles Times called it “the most unique tribute show in decades.”
The show pits Rolling Stones tribute band Jumping Jack Flash against rival Brit boys Abbey Road in an all-out musical showdown for rock dominance.
“Bring your best moves Twyla, let’s get this dance party started!” said Joey Infante, who plays “Mick” in the show.

About Beatles vs. Stones – A Musical Showdown:
This special performance highlights the two greatest rock 'n' roll bands of all time facing off in a once-in-a-lifetime show. Taking the side of the Fab Four is Abbey Road, one of the country’s top Beatles tribute bands. With brilliant musicianship and authentic costumes and gear, Abbey Road plays beloved songs spanning the Beatles' career. They engage in a musical “showdown” of the hits against premier Stones tribute band Jumping Jack Flash who offer a faithful rendition of the music and style of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and the bad boys of the British Invasion.
Hailed as the most exciting Rolling Stones tribute band, Jumping Jack Flash has been receiving delighted acclaim from audiences all over the country for more than two decades. Joey Infante and his band bring to the stage the amazing energy and unmistakable enthusiasm that is the hallmark of a live Rolling Stones performance. Whether it's the passion and fury with which they deliver the blues-soaked, groove-driven rock anthems, it’s their attention to detail and nuance that makes the Jumping Jack Flash performance a truly awe-inspiring part of the show.
Utilizing the multi-instrumentalists at their disposal, Abbey Road re-create the songs in all their depth and glory with the studio overdubs that the Beatles themselves never performed live. They also touch on the deeper cuts that were seldom heard in concert. Abbey Road has amassed a strong national touring history and has honed their show to become one of the most musically and visually satisfying Beatle tribute acts in the world.
“If the British Invasion had a house band in the 60s and beyond, hopefully we’d be that band,” said Chris Paul Overall, who plays “Paul McCartney” in the show.
“There’s always a special feeling for these shows— people dress up in 60’s costumes, wear Beatles and Rolling Stones clothing, and enjoy one another’s company during the concerts,” said Infante.
The Beatles vs. Stones show has become a phenomenon, widely regarded as the world’s greatest tribute concert.
