When Marcia first heard about GetSetUp, she wasn't looking for something for herself. The project manager from Northern Maryland was searching for resources to help her in-laws, both in their 80s, stay active and eat a little healthier.
"I heard about it through my wellness program at work," she says. "I was asking about my in-laws and trying to get them some information and ideas to work out and exercise a bit more and eat a bit healthier in their 80s, trying to get them a little bit more aware of how important it is to stay healthy."
Her employer shared GetSetUp as a resource. She passed it along to her in-laws and then kept coming back herself.

What hooked Marcia immediately was GetSetUp's core philosophy: classes designed for older adults and led by older adults.
"I like it because it's for people who are over 50 and taught by people over 50, and that's the part that really intrigues me," she says. "I'm now in my 60s."
For Marcia, that peer connection isn't just a nice-to-have. It's the reason the content feels relevant, relatable, and real. Instructors who have lived through the same changes, in body, in balance, in beauty routines, bring a credibility that generic fitness content simply can't match.
Marcia already takes yoga and pilates at a studio near her home, but she was looking for something she could do in between, without leaving her dining room.
"I do work out in my dining room, and I have my mats and weights behind me, so I can break away from work for 20 minutes and do one, and that's great," she says.
The format is everything. Short, focused classes that fit into a lunch break have become a cornerstone of her daily well-being.
"I like the 20 minutes, it's enough to just break up my day and get into something and make it worthwhile. It makes it really convenient. And it gets me away from the computer."
She's especially drawn to strength and pilates classes, and gravitates toward sessions that cluster around lunchtime.
"I need a break, and I like the ones that are around lunchtime so I can combine that with lunch."
Ask Marcia about a standout GetSetUp moment,, and she lights up talking about a core workout on an exercise ball.
"The one I enjoyed the most was on the exercise ball, doing core exercises, and I enjoyed that so much that I had to do it again," she laughs. "That one especially, when the instructor said 'now close your eyes'... and I almost fell off!"
It's a moment that captures something important: GetSetUp's classes aren't just effective: they're fun. And for adults working to improve balance and core strength as they age, that sense of joy and challenge keeps them coming back.
Marcia came for the exercise, but she stayed for the full picture. She's taken a class on finances, specifically on locking down credit reports, and has discovered beauty and style content that speaks directly to where she is in life.
"I like Jackie, who does things on makeup and hair, and I plug into her to get ideas, since as we get older, things change," she says.
She's also planning to start exploring Medicare and Social Security content as she approaches milestones in her 60s, practical, timely knowledge that impacts real financial decisions.
But the biggest surprise has been what the classes do for her mind, not just her body.
"I do mindfulness techniques before I start work, and jumping off in the middle of the day helps a lot, for my mental as well as my physical health," she says.
The impact has been clear.
"My health and well-being have improved because the sessions are short, so they are easy to do. I can hop off and do something good for myself, and then get back to work."
For Marcia, GetSetUp has become a seamless part of a healthy, intentional lifestyle. She pairs it with her company's broader wellness program, which includes coaching sessions and mindfulness workshops, and finds that GetSetUp fills exactly the right gap: accessible, age-appropriate movement and learning, on demand, whenever she has 20 minutes.
"I am more active," she says simply. "And I do work a lot, so that keeps my brain going."
Her passion for 20-minute classes reflects what so many adults in their 60s know to be true: it's not about finding hours. It's about making the most of the minutes you have.
