e all love good food, but have you ever stopped to think about how what you eat might be affecting your mood?

It turns out that the two are closely related.

For example, certain foods can help improve your mood and give you more energy, while others may negatively impact your mental health. The good news is that incorporating a few simple additions into your diet can help you feel better and give you more energy. Here's a list of our top 7 mood-boosting foods:

1. Bananas

Bananas are a great source of vitamin B6, which helps the body produce serotonin and dopamine — two neurotransmitters that play a big role in regulating mood. Bananas are also a good source of vitamin C, potassium, magnesium and manganese.

Blueberries are one of my favorite foods to eat before a workout. They contain anthocyanins, which are antioxidants that help protect your cells from damage. They also contain vitamin C, which is essential for your immune system and helps keep you feeling full as well as hydrated when it comes to water intake during exercise. The fiber content in blueberries is a great way to keep your digestive system healthy because it helps prevent constipation and bloating after eating junk food (which we all know can happen).

3. Avocados

Avocados are a source of tryptophan and vitamin B6, which help the body create serotonin. Serotonin is the neurotransmitter that helps you relax and feel happy. In fact, when you're feeling blue, avocados can help you get back on track because they contain tryptophan—a protein that converts to serotonin in your body. Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that plays an important role in sleep and mood regulation as well as other aspects of health like digestion. This makes them one of the best foods for healthy sleep!

4. Walnuts

Walnuts are a rich source of vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids, which can help promote healthy brain function. Walnuts are also a good source of protein, fiber, and heart-healthy fats that keep you feeling full for longer.

PEA can give you a sense of euphoria and make you feel good about yourself when you're feeling down—which makes dark chocolate the perfect pick-me-up for those days when nothing seems to be going your way.

Dark chocolate stimulates bile production in your liver which helps break down fat faster so less gets stored as body fat—and everyone knows less body fat means lower cholesterol! It's important to note however: not all types of dark chocolates have the same benefits; only choose organic varieties with high cocoa content (at least 70% or more).

7. Turkey

A turkey sandwich is a delicious way to get your hands on tryptophan, a natural ingredient that can improve your mood and help you sleep better.
