Key Takeaways:

A few minutes after meeting Gillian Larson, you're guaranteed to be inspired. A retired nurse, she was 61 when she became a contestant on Survivor. Disappointed at first that she was eliminated from the show, she turned a negative into a positive.

She saw Survivor when it first started and spent eight years trying to get on the show. She was finally selected to compete but was voted off in the second week. She had to spend the remaining six weeks of the show in Gabon. After a lot of soul searching while walking the beaches there, she had an epiphany that led to her finding her true passion.

"I have no regrets because I've been able to maximize my exposure and do so much with it. When people find out I was on Survivor, they want to hear about it."

She's grateful for the opportunity she had to be a contestant and feels that destiny allowed her to create and run Reality Rally that just completed its tenth year. The three-day event involves hundreds of volunteers and participants in many ways from the city and many of the cities in the Temecula Valley and beyond. It has become a Temecula Signature event and has raised over half a million for Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center.

In addition, she has done over 500  speaking engagements sharing her message of being the best you can be She enjoys spreading the word through her speaking engagements to groups of any age. She particularly loves school assemblies as the students listen to her and get her message because she was on TV.

One of her most memorable appearances was her Ted Talk.

“I didn't want to talk about being a woman or my age. I don't care if you are two or 100, man, woman, or child. You can do anything. Whatever age you are, you can do what you want to do. It has nothing to do with age. It's all in your mind. Don't listen to voices from the past. Whether you succeed or not, anything you do is preparing you for what is meant to be."

Her story is inspiring, and her positive attitude is contagious. Join Gillian for her session, Age Should Not Be a Barrier to Reaching Your Dreams, where she'll share her tips to help you achieve your goals, no matter what your age is!
